It’s easy for me to think about the parts of teaching I hate – the drill-and-kill tests, the banal basal readers, the staff meetings that serve as evidence of why PowerPoint lost its power.  It’s sometimes harder for me to vocalize why I love this profession.  Hence the blog. Each day I will write one thing that I love about teaching based upon my experiences in the classroom.

I’m not a very Hallmark-y teacher.  I don’t like posters with cuddly kittens imploring me “hang in there.”  I’m not a fan of chicken soup, especially when it comes to my soul.  You won’t see me with apple-themed knick knacks on my bookshelves or puffy paint t-shirts reading “I don’t teach, I inspire!”

But I am an optimist, because I recognize that I’m lucky to have this job.
